Ex Demo Haute 25
by Mne D Roger, Y Coy, 45 Cdo RM
Ex Demo Haute 25 was a multi-day ski tour traversing the high terrain of the Swiss and French Alps. This year, 18 members of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines followed the famous Patrouille des Glaciers route through some of the most spectacular and remote areas in the Alps. The route started in the town of Zermatt, famous for the towering Matterhorn; and finished in Verbier, some 65km away. The expedition involved long days, skiing through some incredible alpine scenery in truly isolated areas. This exercise was organised by Lt Col Gary Veacock RM (MLO) and assisted by other members of the ML Branch, giving us valuable experience from previous Haute Route trips along with ski mountaineering knowledge and skills.
