The Corps Today
43 Cdo FP Gp RM has completed FGen with Ex Serpent Strike and Commando Speed Marches alongside operational output. This period has also seen the 80th Anniversary of Cpl Thomas Peck Hunter’s heroic actions leading to him being awarded the Victoria Cross at the battle of Lake Comacchio in Italy during the Second World War. As a member of the original 43 RM Cdo, the modern-day Unit has taken the time to remember him and his actions with a memorial speed march, a wreath laying at his grave in Comacchio, Italy and an all ranks regimental dinner, where the original VC presented to Cpl Hunter's family was on display.
47 Cdo RG RM: Before Easter leave, 10 Trg Sqn successfully passed out four courses, ranging from LC3s to LC Officers. Some were assigned to 43 Cdo FP Gp RM, while others began their first assignments in the British Indian Overseas Territory. As Winter Deployment concluded, members of 4 R Sqn and 539 R Sqn operated with Littoral Response Group North during Ex Joint Viking, navigating the complex waterways of the Norwegian coast, mastering Littoral Access Points for deploying Cdo teams. Additionally, various support and reconnaissance missions have been carried out globally, from Japan to Colombia. The Unit also participated in VE Day celebrations in Plymouth and commemorative events in France for D-Day and the Jersey Boat Show.
