60 SECONDS WITH… CHRIS ISAAK
CHRIS ISAAK
A minute’s all it takes to find out what makes a great guitarist tick. Before he jumped into his limo for the airport we grabbed a quick chat with the retro-vibed American singer-songwriter-guitarist.
GT: Do you have a type of plectrum that you can’t live without?
CI: I use medium gauge Dunlop picks and I punch a hole in the centre. It makes them darn near impossible to drop. I’m spoiled now because I have tons of picks. But I remember when I had just two or three and if I dropped one it was a real drag.
GT: If you had to give up all your pedals but three, what would they be?
CI: I usually only have an echo pedal, that’s al. I have really never been that big on pedals for playing live. I have reverb on my Fender or Gibson amps, and if I want a Scotty Moore slap-back echo I have my pedal. I like to keep it pretty simple.
GT: Do you play another instrument well enough to do so in a band? If so, what, and have you ever done it?
