The key is protein-pacing, or eating moderate amounts of protein through the day, combined with an exercise regime that includes resistance, intervals, stretching and endurance, says new US research. Think of the acronym PRISE: ‘P’ for protein-pacing, ‘R’ for ‘resistance’, ‘I’ for ‘interval’, ‘S’ for stretching, and ‘E’ for endurance. Put that little lot together and you improve fitness, lose total fat and abdominal fat, increase lean body mass, and boost heart health. It’s not about the quantity of calories you eat and exercise you do, but the quality of both, so prise yourself off the sofa (sorry, we couldn’t resist) and get involved!
