Presenter and hello! Inspiration Awards judge Vick Hope is an ambassador for Studio You, the new free digital PE teaching resource from Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign designed to get teenage girls back into exercise. She tells us why it’s important to focus on fun and not competition…
When I was younger, I would dread PE lessons. I was shy, insecure and lacking in confidence. I would hate the idea of letting my team down, not scoring a goal, or being eliminated from a competition. People would make fun of me for having hairy legs and I would be so embarrassed every time I had to put a short skirt on for netball or hockey. When we did swimming, I didn’t want to put a swimming cap on because my hair didn’t fit in it.
