Actress Emma Watson goes back to school
A ctress Emma Watson has begun a
master’s degree in creative writing at Oxford University.
The 33-year-old Harry Potter star was spotted at the matriculation ceremony marking her formal admission into the university last week, wearing the traditional dress of black gown, white blouse and black ribbon.
It is believed Emma, who has an estimated net worth of around £74m, became interested in creative writing after penning poetry and essays on love, friendships and relationships during the Covid-19 lockdown.
She has also cut back on her acting career, which began at the age of nine, when she landed the role of book-loving Hogwarts student Hermione Granger in JK Rowling’s hit franchise. Her last film role was in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women in 2019.
Discussing her decision, she said: “I wasn’t very happy, if I’m being honest. I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say: ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’
