When hello! catches up with Captain Preet Chandi a week after she’s returned from the South Pole, she isn’t in a hotel room, cocooned in a goosedown duvet on Egyptian cotton sheets. Instead she is still on the ice, camping in a tent.
“Although it’s more of a luxury tent than my one,” she says, speaking by satellite phone from the Union Glacier Camp in Antarctica while she waits for a flight back to civilisation.
“I’m being looked after. I’ve had a shower, I’ve been able to sit down to go to the toilet rather than squat, and I’m being well fed.”
