Charlie and Yoanna Hanbury areone of the polo world’s most glamorous matches. Star British player Charlie and Yoanna, the daughter of German Princess Anna Oettingen-Wallerstein, first crossed paths in Argentina thanks to their shared passion for the sport. An exquisite Bavarian woodland wedding followed four years later in 2016.
The pair have since welcomed three daughters to the family team: Cara, seven, five-year-old Cressida, and Catinka, three – the youngest delivered by Charlie himself by the side of the M4 motorway while the couple were urgently en route to hospital, after Yoanna went into labour.
Their girls are enjoying an idyllic country childhood here at their Berkshire mansion, where Charlie, 37, himself grew up. Naturally, the 18th-century house is within easy reach of Cirencester Park Club, where his late father Major Christopher Hanbury pioneered fundraising through polo, supported by the then Prince of Wales, now King Charles, and his sons Princes William and Harry, whom Charlie has often played alongside.
