As she steps into a new role at Estée Lauder, Aerin Lauder weighs up her work-life balance, and tells us why ‘anti-ageing’ is not her goal
Hosting swanky midweek suppers and beachside soirées to celebrate a new fragrance or furniture collection is second nature for Aerin Lauder, the founder and creative visionary behind luxury lifestyle company Aerin.
With an eye for detail and flair for design, the granddaughter of entrepreneur Estée is known as a tastemaker and she has been building up her eponymous design-led brand for over a decade.
“Beauty is my heritage, but decor and accessories are my passion,” says Aerin – 54 this month – whose beautiful US homes in New York, the Hamptons, Aspen and Palm Beach are routinely featured in interiors magazines. “When I decided to launch Aerin, I felt there was an opportunity for a lifestyle brand based on feminine, modern, effortless products with strong heritage and storytelling. The brand is truly a reflection of my favourite things.”
With the two 20-something sons she has with financier husband Eric Zinterhofer flying the nest, Aerin is also taking on the role of style and design director for Estée Lauder’s Re-Nutriv range. She will help inform the look and feel of the products as the brand reframes the conversation around anti-ageing.
