EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW AND PHOTOS

SANTA MONTEFIORE

CELEBRATING THE LAUNCH OF HER NEW NOVEL

ON FINDING PEACE AFTER THE DEATH OF HER SISTER TARA PALMER-TOMKINSON

Santa is relaxed and confident for HELLO!’s photoshoot, telling us: “As you get older, you are more you because you don’t care what other people think”
SUIT: THE FOLD. SHIRT: SASSI HOLFORD. EARRINGS: DOWER & HALL

Statuesque in a crisp white trouser suit, Santa Montefiore looks on top of the world. Striking a series of elegant poses in a suite at London’s luxurious Peninsula Hotel, she exudes confidence while chatting to everyone on HELLO!’s exclusive photoshoot and interview.

The best-selling author is preparing to release her 27th novel, Shadows in the Moonlight, , and seems to be in a great place. “I’m really happy,” she tells us. “I’m 54 and I’m absolutely where I’d like to be.

“Of course I’d like my body to look like a 30-yearold’s, but I accept the ageing process. I’m just happy managing my life and not having to fit in. I think as you get older, you are more you because you don’t care what other people think. Happiness comes from being true to yourself, in whatever form that takes.”

A lot of that happiness comes from her family and work life. Santa and her husband, historian and fellow author Simon Sebag Montefiore, have children Lily and Sasha, both in their 20s. She talks enthusiastically about how the family enjoy indulging in their coffee obsession together, also describing how they potter around the house while she’s busy writing at the kitchen table.
