HUMONGOUS HELICOPTERS

Dear HIW, Thank you for the insightful article about monster vehicles in issue 174. I had no idea some of those existed, and kudos to the ingenuity of all those who develop, create and maintain such vehicles. In particular, mention of the heftiest helicopter was most intriguing. On the subject of helicopters, although ‘stealth helicopter’ might be a contradiction in terms, I certainly would enjoy seeing How It Works cover the topic, if you haven’t already.

Thank you for your letter, Stephen. We’re happy to hear these vehicles captured your attention, and you can expect to see more of some of the world’s most extraordinary vehicles in our transport section. How It Works has featured various stealth vehicles in previous issues, such as stealth planes, ships and a feature on stealth technology. Stealth technology involves keeping an aircraft invisible to some degree. And in this issue, you can learn about some of the technologies used to keep the US president’s plane undetected in the sky.
