Seeing Saturn

Drifting through the shadow of Saturn, NASA’s Cassini spacecraft snapped this mesmerising shot of the ringed planet. Using both its wide and narrow-angle cameras, Cassini captured 323 images of backlit Saturn over several hours in 2013. Of those images, 141 were used to compile this final mosaic. All in all, this image encapsulates a view of Saturn that spans 404,800 miles across.
