Maximise the Piano Roll’s MIDI/Automation Lane
We’ll show you how to make the most of Logic Pro’s trackfocused MIDI editing feature
Logic offers a toolset for polishing up your MIDI parts, most of which are accessed via the piano roll editor. When it comes to editing either parameter automation used to control features on your software synths or MIDI performance data like note velocity modulation, there are a couple of options. While most mix automation for things like track volume is handled in the Track area’s automation lanes, there’s a separate lane available in the piano roll editor that’s used for MIDI data – velocity by default – but that can also be used to display track automation data for that individual track.
