Welcome
A SLAP-UP TRIBUTE TO FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD...
When I was growing up in the 1950s and 1960s I seem to recall that I and most of my friends rarely got enough to eat. They were austere times, my friends, and without wanting to offend any big-boned readers of today, it’s true to say that there were no overweight kids at my primary school. The only fat kid I knew was Billy Bunter, and he was not a close personal friend.
Many of the weekly British comics I used to devour back in those days featured characters who were rewarded for their good deeds with a slap-up meal, because that was all we anklebiters really desired. Forget living in a big house or having a private educationwe drifted off to sleep at night dreaming of a few bites of Desperate Dan’s cow pie or that amazing bangers and mash mountain that The Three Bears regularly tucked into.
