Inside Crochet  |  Issue 116
The heat is very much on here in the Northern Hemisphere, and people are packing their cases and off exploring the wonders of the world while they bask in the warm summer sun. For many, hot weather is a time to put away the crochet hooks, but not for us! We've swapped winter wools for cool, crisp cottons and this sizzling summer issue celebrates lighter fibres in all their glory.
Although I'm staying here in the UK for the summer, I'm still looking for light summer wear, and will especially need some handmade garments and accessories for the cool evenings at the Yorkshire campsite! I am absolutely loving the plethora of beautiful shawls, cover-ups and clothes in this issue, and Kimberley Bate's beautiful Indigo jacket has the double element of cool - with its cotton fibre and graphic pattern it can be dressed up or down. We love it with a t-shirt, linen trousers and sneakers, but it also looks stunning with a silk cami and jeans for a festival classic. For trips to hotter climes, a sunhat is essential and Sam Hermes' raffia hat is lightweight and good protection - perfect for hand luggage only!
Talking of hand luggage, Sam has also designed a fabulous circular bag - a must-have with its leather handles, beaded strap and heavenly mustard colour! If you're planning to travel abroad, check with your airline about crochet hooks. We've got you covered with our fab keyring hooks, though - perfect for any emergency crochet! And for a perfect travel project we can't get enough of Helda Panagary's beautiful Flutter shawl - light and elegant, and perfect to keep your shoulders protected from a cool sea breeze.
Stay sun safe and happy holiday hooking, friends!
