TODAY, Anne Mackintosh lies in an unmarked grave in North Leith Burial Ground. She shares a plaque with the Rev. David Johnston and the un-named grandparents of W. E.
Gladstone. At the very least, Anne is a Scottish heroine of equal rank to Flora MacDonald. Yet Anne remains forgotten while Flora is remembered by a monument at her grave site (and by the Hollywood movie starring David Niven).
