Seeing Is Not Believing

IWAS PROMPTED to write this article following a conversation with a friend whose father had recently suffered a stroke. Fortunately, although the gentleman is in his late eighties, and has lost the power in his left arm and leg, he is otherwise OK. However, he is further hampered because he is almost completely blind, having inherited a genetic retinal ailment which has seen him lose more and more sight over the years.

Before I go any further, I should state that I am about as far from a medical expert as it is possible to get, but my conversation with my friend made me realise that there is a lot of work to be done on raising awareness of sight loss issues, so I thought I should try to spread the word.
