THE MÜLLER Anniversary Games gave many of Britain’s Brazil-bound Olympians the last chance gauge where they’re at against the rest of the world before they jet off to South America to finalise their preparations.
With performances varying across the board, the 20 season’s or personal bests recorded from the 45 individual athletes of Britain’s Olympic team – approximately 44% of those competing – bodes well and hints at a move in the right direction at just the right time.
Leading the medal charge in Rio will be Mo Farah, who insisted prior to his destruction of the 5000m field that he was in the shape of his life, and is in an easier place mentally than 12 months ago when he found himself amid a flurry of accusations against coach Alberto Salazar.
