If you love following ‘The Battle of the Beadsmith’ competition, you’ll love our front cover piece by Lia Dipaola. This stunning component necklace that was featured in the 2019 contest is a delight, and we’re ecstatic that she’s now sharing it with us. Next up, with have another stunning necklace from a new contributor, Marina Nadke. Her ‘New Wave’ necklace combines a stunning rope with Peyote rings, and it’ll be a piece you’ll reach for again and again. Vivien Hussey’s geometric bugle bracelet works up quickly and looks fabulous on. Becs Dean-Skinner is back with us, and she’s bringing all the spring feels with her daffodil necklace. If pendants are what you’re looking for, look no further than projects from myself and Marlies Vogal. My pendant is a triple bezel piece, and Marlies’s sea turtle is super cute. Last but certainly not least for the bead weaving category is Judith Robson’s beaded bunny. Bunnies are my ultimate favourite animal, and those that follow me on Instagram would have become aquatinted with my little fluff ball, Fudge, so you can imagine how excited I was when I saw Judith’s sweet little bunnies.
Moving on to other mediums for this issue. Tracey Spurgin has ramped up her springtime game with her ‘Flourishing Florals’ pendant, and Ana Townsend shows us how to work with bronze clay. Alison Tarry’s wear with anything bracelet using spinal beads is that perfect day-to-day piece, and Laura Binding is taking us step-by-step through a basic chain maille weave to make a bracelet that is ideal for summer.
