Classic.Retro.Modern. Magazine  |  October 2022
This month’s Your Classics is a Festival of the Unexceptional special, with cars including a Daihatsu Applause, Talbot Minx, Ledbury Maestro, Vauxhall Cavalier and Mitsubishi Shogun. We’ve also got features on the Triumph Acclaim, Ford Mondeo, Land Rover Discovery, Nissan Murano and Saab 9-5. We are, as some might say, keeping it real.
Our focus has, and always will be, on classics that are both accessible and attainable. So, you might be wondering why there’s a Bentley Continental R on the front cover. Well, we also want to make room for cars that might not get a look in elsewhere. Dream classics that might be within reach, even if it’s with a small win on the lottery. The Continental R fits into that category, which is why Richard Heseltine took the wheel to assess the criminally overlooked cruiser from Crewe. It’s a tough job driving a turbocharged 6.75-litre V8 stately home room for the road, but Richard was prepared to slum it.
Elsewhere, we’ve got a Toyota HiAce in a Gulf Racing-inspired paint job (yes, really), our editor drives an AC Ace Brooklands, and Mr Heseltine introduces us to the Autobianchi Coupé and six of the best Bentley specials. Meanwhile, Sam Glover, our self-proclaimed ‘scruffy oik’, writes about his remarkable Tatra T87. A HiAce rubbing shoulders with a T87 – it could only be Classic.Retro.Modern. magazine.
