Growing up is overrated — perhaps that’s why designers are perennially obsessed with collegiate dressing. The enduring appeal of polos, rugby jerseys and oversized athleisurewear took centre field this season, care of preppy separates with a nostalgic nod. Kent&Curwen offered a fresh take on the rugby jersey, revised in shaggy navy and red stripes and shown as a minidress, styled school-girl like with knee-high socks. This colour palette continued at Louis Vuitton, where Nicolas Ghesquière paired shearling-lined parkas and pants, in matching sun-scorched red, with bleached-yellow sweaters that riffed on the Breton stripe. From varsity-coded cable knits (Iceberg) to capacious jackets (Fiorucci), the look is equal parts playful and practical.
