We love...
We love January
The Roman god Janus, after whom this exciting but not exactly affable month is named, had two heads. One of them looking backwards with a mixture of fondness and relief to the year just passed. The other looking forward with trepidation and a rising sense of anticipation to the looming thrills of the new year. I reckon we all feel a bit like that at the beginning of the year – the cosiness of Christmas is tidied away, the slightly forced bonhomie of New Year’s Eve is over and we are all looking forward to another year of gardening.
