The springtime larder is vibrant and plentiful. Embrace the fresh flavours of the new season with home-grown SPRING ONIONS, WATERCRESS and RADISHES

These sprightly stems are the youngest members of the allium clan, pulled from the soil before the bulbs have a chance to swell and develop a more pungent flavour.

Nutritional reasons to buy

Spring onions help to boost levels of potassium, vitamin A and iron in our diets. In particular, they provide the B vitamin folate, which releases energy from the food we digest. This nutrient is especially important for pregnant women and those trying for a baby, to reduce the risk of neural tube defects. Spring onions are high in vitamin C, too, which helps to keep tiredness at bay. They also contain flavonoids: antioxidants that may help to promote heart health.
