Model Boats Magazine May 2015 Edizione posteriore

English
207 Recensioni   •  English   •   Hobbies & Crafts (Scale Modelling)
Only €6,99
This issue includes a full kit review of the Deans Marine M V Grampian Pride by Terry Small. This is an oil rig support vessel and the kit makes into a nice practical size of radio controlled model with plenty of scope for extra working detail to be added.
Dave Petts makes a welcome return to these pages with his unique fully functioning radio controlled model of HMS Bounty. In the three parts of his article that are being published in this, the June and July issues, he is describing how to overcome the problems of creating and successfully sailing a model of a square-rigged vessel in a true to life manner, and with no propeller to get the model out of trouble when on the water.
Dr. Marcus Rooks describes how he bought to life an old Humbrol kit of the tug Sea Witch. A lot of creative pleasure can be had from building old kits, many of which can be found on Internet auction sites for quite nominal prices.
Anthony Addams has a very nice feature on dioramas at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Dave Wooley presents Part Three of his Warships of WW1 Special Feature where he looks at the Royal Navy of 1914 to 1919, but also the models of some of the warships that are nowadays generally the only 3D representation remaining to us model makers.
John Parker has a very interesting article about Fleet Line Marine/K & O Models and in Readers' Models, Stephen Bowles and Jim Huebener describe their unique models, Jim's Ashgarth tug being built based entirely on a Jon Godsell Photo Gallery previously printed in this magazine. Jim has created a truly unique and remarkable model and I hope he will write more about it in due course.
So, together with the regular articles, I hope there is something for everyone in this 84 page May 2015 issue that is on sale in the UK just after Easter in early April.

Model Boats

I started reading Model Boats in 1963, the whole scene has changed dramatically in those intervening years and sadly it seems that it is mostly older people who read the mag and keep the hobby alive, I have returned to the hobby after nearly 30 years away, the guidance offered in the magazine is most helpful Recensito 30 marzo 2020
