The GREAT MUNICH Gem and Mineral Show

Every year in late October, mineral and gem collectors and dealers descend on the city of Munich, Germany, to participate in the largest such show in Europe. Located on what was the old Munich airport where we used to arrive, the show fills a cluster of large exhibit buildings, each devoted to an aspect of our science and hobby.

Fortunately, the show is organized, so an accurate accounting of attendance is gathered as everyone passes through turnstiles that keep count. The show organizers also record the amazing number of countries represented by visitors. The 2018 show was visited by people from 61 different nations. Imagine that! It is truly a worldwide event.
