Saltwater Boat Angling  |  Feb/March 2023
In this issue we’ve got content covering nearly three months of angling. Firstly, new contributor Ian Harris, a successful author and angler, tells the tale of a monster plaice he landed on his kayak. Also, in late 2022 I visited Sweden at the invitation of friend and angling guide, Jonas Nordegard. Thanks to him I experienced some amazing sea trout fishing in north-west Sweden – you can find this on page 32. There is more on bluefin, and Jim Whippy took the winner of an Angling Trust Raffle, Steve Horrocks, on a fun day out on our boat, Lucky G, from Eastbourne.
We also focus on the results of the Autumn Conger Club competition reported on by Shaun Pedley, have a great article from charter skipper Gareth John on fishing for monsters in Norway and we also reveal how Navionics Relief Shading is winning competitions for a variety of anglers around the UK. There is an article on anchoring techniques for kayaks and a preview of some of the angling issues affecting recreational sea angling this year.
Finally, and most excitingly we review a new boat, Hurricane 21, being built by boatbuilder Steve Foulis in the Solent. He acquired the mould for a boat first built in the 80’s and updated to produce a cracking fishing vessel – and we’re hoping to showcase this with the Saltwater Boat Angling Pro Team at the forthcoming Sea Angling Classic.
We hope you enjoy the issue.
