Sabrina explains how to run safely in the dark
WHO IS SABRINA?
Sabrina Pace-Humphreys is an ultrarunner, activist, mother of four and grandmother of three. She is co-founder of Black Trail Runners, and is the author of Black Sheep: A Story of Rural Racism, Identity and Hope
When was the last time you did something that scared you? Something that took you out of your comfort zone and challenged you?
Well, as some of you will know, one of the experiences that challenged me this year was to agree to be a contestant on the BBC One and BBC iPlayer show, Survivor, which is currently airing. It was a massive decision for me to agree to be on the show and, as you can imagine, it tested me in ALL the ways.
However, leaning into my fear about being on a show such as this, and using the opportunity to promote things I am passionate about – yes, trail running being one of these – allowed me to create new human connections, face my fears head on and better understand my strengths and weakneses. I’m not going to reveal how I got on – you’ll have to watch the show! – but I hope I represented for the women.
