What better way to spend a rainy morning in October than to run 13 miles around a park? The weather forecast predicted a downpour at 9am, the same time as the gun would go off for the thousands of runners taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon.
It’s a popular race and operates a ballot system for places, with entry also available by running for a charity. The starting pens were full of different charity vests and dedications to those who’d been loved and lost. It’s a sobering sight before a race, putting the worst of the weather and the intimidating distance into perspective.
