The International Welsh Poetry Competition – entirely independent and now in its tenth year – is open for entries for this year’s contest, which has celebratory increased prize money.
The first prize is now £500, and the second and third prizes are £250 and £100. There will be a further 17 runners-up. Winners will be published in a future anthology. The judge will be Welsh writer John Evans, who judged the first two years of the competition after Dave Lewis launched it in 2007.
The competition is for original, unpublished poems up to fifty lines, written in English, in any style and on any subject. Poets may enter as many times as they like. Type poems clearly on single sides of A4. The poet’s name must not appear on the poem manuscript. Complete an entry form, which can be downloaded from the website, and attach the poems to it.
