Colour confidence

We’ve taken three of this season’s most popular colours, to show you how to use them in your home…

This ombré paint effect will give your scheme a really contemporary edge, while the light grey and shots of coral also help to keep the shades of rose up-to-date

Solid shutters, from £290 per sq m for standard colours, from £320 per sq m for custom finishes, including home consultation and installation, Shutterly Fabulous

The word blush may conjure up images of an overly pink scheme, yet this colour trend is very contemporary and fresh. It can create a pretty, feminine scheme but it is sophisticated and elegant rather than girly, using dusty pink, lilac and peach, mixed with powdery grey. You can also take on a more masculine edge by choosing to combine soft oranges with a warm coppery hint, with soft clay-toned neutrals and pure white. Start with your defining blush colours – are you going to choose pale pink or soft orange? Or a blend of both? Balance the scheme with neutrals and white then add pops of yellow or coral as an accent colour. Complete your look with metallic accessories, making the most of the copper, gold and bronze accessories available on the high street. Keep things looking simple and choose natural woods to furnish your room.

What else works with blush?

Choose soft grey to carry a mix of pale pink, soft orange and warm copper

Little Owl matt emulsion, £35.50 per 2.5l, Fired Earth

Use deep yellow and rich orange as an accent colour, to add a surprise to your scheme

Sunflower Symphony 3, £24.29 per 2.5l, Dulux MixLab
