KNIGHTS CONTINUE THEIR CLIMB
CHRIS JONES Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium, last Monday
BARROW RAIDERS 18
YORK CITY KNIGHTS 30
IF ANY OTHER Championship club is to break the stranglehold on the competition by Featherstone Rovers and Leigh Centurions this season, then it looks as though that club is likely to be York City Knights.
And if they do upset either of the top two, it is likely to be because of their defence, which played a great part in this victory over an enthusiastic Barrow Raiders side last Monday evening, particularly in the third quarter of the game, when the York players rebuffed attack after attack from the Raiders, who frequently managed to get all the way to the line, only to be held up and prevented from grounding the ball.
