PREMIER DIVISION

YORK ACORN registered a first win of the season – and the men from Thanet Road did it in style, with a 30-6 triumph over LEIGH MINERS RANGERS.
Acorn’s prospects didn’t look too rosy when Louie Singleton crashed over for the Miners in the second minute, Sam Pilkington adding the extras.
That, though, was as good as it got for the visitors.
The home side replied through Jordan Potter at the first half’s midway point to peg Leigh back to 6-4 at the break. And it was one-way traffic in the second period, Acorn prevailing through Potter’s second try and touchdowns for Adam Speck, Ant Chilton, Luke Swales and Clayton Shepherdson, three of which Chilton improved.
