WIGAN BACK ON FORM
DAVID KUZIO DW Stadium, Thursday
WIGAN WARRIORS 30
CATALANS DRAGONS 8
WIGAN WARRIORS were crowned Super League champions last October after putting in a sterling defensive display to deny the Catalans Dragons and they did the same again with two competition points on the line.
The Dragons had the better moments of the first half but they only held a two-point advantage at the break. Wigan’s first-half defensive display was impressive as they continued to frustrate the visitors.
The Dragons led 8-0 at one stage with an Arthur Mourgue penalty and a converted Julian Bousquet try, but Wigan hit back with Luke Thompson crossing for his first try in cherry and white.
A moment of sheer brilliance from Harry Smith and a try from Adam Keighran saw Wigan take a ten-point lead in the second half. They again had to defend their line heroically before Liam Farrell and Abbas Miski added to the points tally.
