MATT BOLTON…
THINKS THAT THE iPHONE’S NEW ‘DYNAMIC ISLAND’ IS A TOTAL GIMMICK… AND ALSO APPLE’S BEST BIT OF DESIGN IN YEARS
The iPhone’s notch has never been a problem for me. I was never desperate for Apple to follow the designs from Samsung (and the like), who replaced a notch (where the cut-out for the front camera meets the top bezel) with a camera pill (where the cut-out for the front camera is surrounded by screen), because it doesn’t make any practical difference. You can’t actually use those few pixels of screen you’re adding back in, because anything you show there will be interrupted by the camera cut-out. As far as I was concerned, the notch might as well stay put until underscreen cameras become good enough to use.
