Around this time every year, speculation starts mounting
A about which new Macs Apple is on the cusp of releasing. This year, though, that speculation has ramped up even more than usual, as not only are new chips just around the corner, but we could see even more Macs get a tasty upgrade than usual.
Let’s start with the Macs we expect to see first. This autumn, it’s likely that three key Mac ranges will get upgraded to the M4 chip series at an October event: the MacBook Pro, the iMac and the Mac mini.
Every MacBook Pro is in line for a new M4-series chip
Starting with the MacBook Pro, every model is in line for a new M4-series chip. That means an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 chip, plus higher-end versions with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips in both 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. This upgrade is likely to be more or less limited to the chip, though, with very few other changes expected. Tweaks to the body, screen and everything else will have to wait.
