Secure your sensitive data
Q How should I protect particularly sensitive data on my MacBook Pro?
by GEORGE CARTER
A Unless you pay for dedicated secure external storage, data is best protected on your Mac’s internal solid-state drive (SSD), because of features in its hardware and in macOS. Most fundamental of those is FileVault to control all access to files stored in the Data volume. This keeps encryption keys for everything stored in your Home folder and more inside the Secure Enclave of the T2 or Apple silicon chip.
