Turn FileVault on today
Does your Mac have a T2 or
Apple silicon chip, start up from its internal SSD, and isn’t used as a server? Then it should have FileVault turned on. Unlike in older Macs, these newer models encrypt the entire contents of their Data volume anyway; FileVault simply puts you in charge of who gets to decrypt and access your files.
