You’ve long been able to share photos in the Photos app – although this was limited to photos you specifically chose to add to a special shared album, that then got posted to iCloud. While that was useful, shared albums only worked one way – so while you could post photos taken at a shared event (a gig you all went to, or a family gathering, say) none of your friends or family could add pictures they’d taken. iCloud Shared Photo Library changes all that.
