Pairing an iPad with an Apple Pencil is something that’s often been thought of in terms of enabling artists to create art, which of course they do. Another, somewhat overlooked application for it is for creating a digital version of a notebook or sketchbook, the kind of thing that people use to jot down notes or sketch ideas. This is sort of possible in iPadOS’ Notes app of course, but only in a fairly basic form. Penbook takes this idea several steps further, aiming to combine the tactile feel of a real notebook with the smarts and convenience of modern technology. It’s worth mentioning at the outset that although you can draw in this app using touch, an Apple Pencil is highly recommended to really get the most out of what it offers.
