> Shrink Messages’ use of iCloud
Messages is filling my iCloud. Why can’t I delete their photo attachments to recover space?
You should delete images and other attachments in Messages to avoid them taking up too much space.
It’s best to try to thin them as you go. If you receive lots of images from someone, add any you want to your photo library or copy elsewhere. Then select the rest and delete them using the command in the contextual menu. That takes time to sync across other Macs and devices using the same iCloud account; some deleted images may be retained on other devices, where you can delete them again. iCloud keeps deleted attachments for 30 days in case you want to recover them, so you won’ t see the results for a month, but it will control how much space Messages takes up in your iCloud storage.
