COVER FEATURE: NATALIE POWELL IS AIMING FOR RIO
We all remember the hair-raising moment when Gemma Gibbons clinched Britain’s first Olympic judo medal in 12 years at London 2012. Among the fervent crowd that day was a 21-year-old Welsh youngster by the name of Natalie Powell who – as a relative newcomer to international competition – saw all she needed to believe it could be her in four years’ time medalling for Team GB in Rio. We talk to Powell about her run-up to Rio.
COLIN OATES: SEEKING PERFECTION
Just like a fine wine, Colin Oates’ judo appears to be getting better with age. Now 32-years-old and a seasoned veteran within the GB Squad, he has been a stalwart competitor at -66kg for many, many years. We caught up with the Brit to discuss his career highlights, performing under pressure and life as a full time GB judoka.
