TIKTOK’S US FATE: RESTRICTIONS, REPRIEVE, AND RESALE
ON JANUARY 19, TikTok briefly shut down all US-based accounts and removed its app from the Apple and Google Play mobile stores. This was in response to a decision by the US Supreme Court that upheld a law requiring TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, to divest, or be banned. However, the blackout was short-lived, as the following day, President Trump signed an executive order delaying the ban’s enforcement by 75 days.
