“THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST SET MY
SOUL AFLAME”
JACK BLACK
Jack: “It’s the pinnacle of headbanging. I loved Iron Maiden growing up. When [1982 album title track] The Number Of The Beast came on the radio, it set my soul aflame – Ifelt a kinship and a sense of community with the metal audience through that song and that era. That’s very much my coming-of-age. Kyle, you were more mature than me – by the time that came out, you were onto, like, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. You never dipped into the deep, dark depths. But I was very much a Beavis And Butt-Head-era child, so I was swept up into that dark, Dungeons & Dragons universe.”
