Kyle: “I mean, who are the two bands on the t-shirts on Beavis And Butt-Head? AC/DC and Metallica. They just are. I always used to think, ‘What a dumb name. Metallica. Are you guys playing metal? Is that why you called it Metallica? We’re called Comedica. We play comedy rock.’ But they are the godfathers.”
Jack: “That’s the band me and Kyle first bonded over. He hadn’t heard Metallica, and I played him One. I was like, ‘This is the best song ever written, check it out.’”
Kyle: “Then Jack said, ‘Actually, every song they do is the greatest song ever written.’”
Jack: “Forget that I said that. That’s not true. It’s all about One. But the thing is, so much of our sauce is a mixture of Metallica and Simon & Garfunkel. Those are our two main ingredients, and you can hear it. [1988’s] …And Justice For All is my favourite overall, but don’t go sleepin’ on [1984’s] Ride The Lightning. That shit’s got some epic… [belts out the opening riff to Ride The Lightning’s title track, rocking his air guitar].”
“METALLICA?! IT’S LIKE US BEING CALLED COMEDICA”
