COLOUR RAIL
Locomotive: LSWR Class T14 4 ‐ 6‐0
Gauge: ‘OO’
Proposed by: Liam Burrows
What is it?
Although Dugald Drummond’s 4 ‐ 4‐0 locomotive designs for the London & South Western Railway had been a success, his early 4 ‐ 6‐0s didn’t quite live up to expectations.
However, the last type to appear was the four-cylinder ‘T14’, built at Eastleigh in 1911-12, which proved much more able. Designed for express passenger work, they originally sported large splashers with access portholes, leading to the nickname of ‘Paddleboxes’.
