MARCH 7 The Bangles were already on discerning pop fans’ radar as part of California’s neo-psychedelic Paisley Underground scene of the early ’80s. Formed in Los Angeles in 1981, the all-singing ’60s-obsessed group’s debut LP All Over The Place had reached US Number 80 in 1984. The video for single Going Down To Liverpool, meanwhile, raised delighted eyebrows on both sides of the Atlantic with its starring role for Leonard ‘Mr Spock’ Nimoy as the group’s stone-faced chauffeur.
