Jimmy Cliff
REGGAE ELDER, THEY COME NO HARDER
What music are you currently grooving to?
Afrobeat! But I like lots of different types of music.
What, if push comes to shove, is your all-time favourite album?
That’s a hard question to answer, because I have lots of favourite albums. But right now I enjoy my new album Refugees, and I’m thanksfull to artists that collaborated with me, such as Wyclef Jean, Dwight Richards and Lilty Cliff [Jimmy’s daughter, who he duets with on the hard-hitting song Racism]. I’m very proud of it, it’s Jimmy Cliff in a new musical direction. I’ll always go into something new.
What was the first record you ever bought? And where did you buy it?
One of the first albums I remember I bought was one by Sam Cooke, at a shop called Wonards Records in Kingston.
