“We lost ourselves for a moment.”
Margo Price speaks to Tom Doyle.
Margo Price: “I wanted this LP to have a very feral, wild, returning-tonature feeling.”
The initial phase of the making of Strays was the six days you and your husband Jeremy Ivey spent in South Carolina taking mushrooms. Can you actually write songs on psychedelics?
“Well, we took the mushrooms and went to outer space, and then when we touched back down to earth, we began with clear heads in the morning. We had to come back down and talk to ground control. But we definitely lost ourselves for a moment there (laughs). I think it just really allowed us to let our guard down and think of new ideas and not have any inhibitions.”
