NIKON ACADEMY PART 2
Pop-up & on-camera flash
Neil Freeman explains how to get the most out of your Nikon’s in-built pop-up flash or on-camera Speedlights that slot into your camera’s hotshoe
Good flash photography is more than adding light to a dark scene. Flash, when used correctly, enables you to add a huge amount of creativity and depth to your photography, regardless of the light conditions that you are shooting in. It is a very versatile photographic tool as it can freeze fast-moving subjects, provide extra light when it’s too dark to handhold your camera, balance your exposure in bright daylight and even control other compatible flashes. Entry-level Nikons have a pop-up flash, which is handy but not that powerful. A slot-in Speedlight provides much more power, and has creative advantages too.
