The January issue of ARH features new cover designs and an updated editorial page to reflect its role as a historical journal recording the history of Australian railways.
To mark the Centenary of the 'Battle of Broken Hill' in 1 January 1915, the issue leads with David Matheson's excellent account of the dramatic event in which two Afghans opened fire on a Silverton Tramway Company train conveying 1200 passengers to a picnic at Silverton. Six people, including the two attackers, died that day and numerous others were wounded.
Keith Robinson's 'Fitters' Tales' also concludes in this issue with his account of the working culture at the Enflied Locomotive Depot in Sydney and the many amusing events involving his fellow workers. The issue rounds off with a brief history of the Blacktown to Richmond branch line to commemorate its 150th Anniversary and a 'From the Archives' account of two similar railway images of Selwyn in Queensland and Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.

Highly recommended Ozzie Railway History Mag

Anyone interested in Australian Railway history, this is a well produced, and high quality mag. My great grandfather helped built many of these railways in late 19C. Beoordeeld op 22 november 2018
